The Centre offers grants to catalyze climate-related research that advances mitigation, resilience, and adaptation. These grants align UBC Sauder research with current industry challenges, encouraging innovative ideas and increasing the potential for external funding.
Objective:
This funding is designed to kickstart research projects across diverse areas, enabling UBC Sauder researchers to align with industry challenges and pursue additional grant opportunities.
Eligibility:
The Principal Investigator must be a tenured or tenure-track research faculty member at UBC Sauder. Graduate students may serve as Co-Applicants in partnership with a UBC Sauder faculty member.
Grant Details:
- Funding: Up to $20,000
- Eligibility: UBC Sauder tenured or tenure-track faculty or graduate students with a faculty co-applicant.
- Expectation: Knowledge dissemination through seminars and industry engagement.
Proposal Requirements:
Applicants must submit a 2-page proposal including the following:

Research Question: Clearly define the research focus and objectives.

Methodology: Outline the methods and approach to achieving the research goals.

Expected Outcomes: Detail the anticipated results and their relevance.

Evaluation Criteria
- Research Quality: Potential for publication and securing additional funding.
- Impact & Relevance: Align with business and society climate challenges with clear expected outcomes.
- Funding Justification: Demonstrating how the grant will catalyze research or unlock future funding opportunities.
- Collaboration: Preference for projects involving industry or cross-disciplinary partnerships.
