UBC Sauder sits on the edge of the Pacific Ocean on the University of British Columbia’s picturesque Vancouver campus, not far from Downtown, the epicentre of business in Western Canada.
Often called Silicon Valley North, Vancouver is a hotbed of startups: Hootsuite, Lululemon and Recon Instruments – which was founded at UBC Sauder and ultimately sold to Intel – all got their start here.
Our climate is temperate; beaches are minutes from school, with sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking four seasons a year. The mountains – so close you can see them from campus – offer skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.
Vancouver has all the hallmarks of the world’s greatest cities: world-class arts and culture, a thriving culinary scene, professional sports teams. And it has something that eludes most major cities: a relaxed energy that encourages work/life balance.
Expand your network in any direction you choose. Whether you want to further a particular skillset – accounting, for example – or connect with business people from a certain region – like through the UBC BizChina Club – you’ll find countless opportunities in the groups and societies on campus.
Not only will you build connections, you’ll help build the culture on campus.
Many UBC Sauder students spread their wings and get involved in the broader University of British Columbia community, connecting with students in other faculties over everything from meditation to music.
No matter what is closest to your heart, there is a group dedicated to it. Environmentally minded clubs on campus, for example, further eco consciousness, while groups like Young Women in Business bring together emerging women leaders.
Our student cohorts strike the perfect balance: you work closely with small groups so you really get to know your fellow classmates. Yet they are large and diverse enough to expand your network to every corner of the globe.
Each of our programs strives to foster a respectful, collegial environment. Collaboration is a cornerstone: the network you’ll build at UBC Sauder will be invaluable in your career for years to come, your classmates will become your colleagues, clients, contacts.
What you learn outside the classroom is every bit as important as what you learn inside. From co-ops to internships, to Global Immersion and volunteer opportunities like Social Entrepreneurship Kenya, these will become the experiences that help define you.
You’ll find the highest quality programs here. UBC Sauder was ranked as the #1 Business School in Canada by Maclean’s Magazine in 2020. Our MBA program was ranked #7 in Canada by QS Global MBA Rankings 2020. And our Master of Management program was ranked #1 in Canada in QS World University Rankings: Masters in Management 2020.
Shift how you see yourself, your strengths and yes, even your weaknesses. Building a strong working relationship with your coaches over the course of your time at UBC Sauder will help to uncover what you’re capable of and help solidify the type of future you want to create.
The same is often true of our faculty. Many students form professional bonds with their professors so strong, they collaborate and consult with them long after graduation.

Between your supportive peers, dedicated advisors and approachable faculty, you’ll end up with the market awareness and personal brand savvy to take your career further than you ever thought possible.
