Professor Emeritus Richard “Rick” Pollay has been notified that he is the highest ranked Global scholar of Advertising in the world, based upon lifetime and last five years analytics gathered worldwide by ScholarGPS in their inaugural Highly Ranked Scholars ranking.
Highly Ranked Scholars are the most productive (number of publications) authors whose works are of profound impact (citations) and of utmost quality (h-index). Their scholarly contributions position them within the top 0.05 per cent of all scholars worldwide. Dr. Pollay ranks as the #1 scholar in the “Lifetime” category in the discipline of Advertising.
In the broader field of Marketing, he is joined by several others from UBC Sauder’s faculty from the Marketing and Behavioural Science Division, including: Dean Darren Dahl, Professor Dale Griffin and Professor Emeritus Charles Weinberg, also identified by ScholarGPS as Global Top Scholars.
Dr. Pollay retired from teaching in 2001, but has remained active. These days his focus is on collecting and cataloguing advertising in collaboration with Duke University Library’s Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History, which has already absorbed much of his History of Advertising Archives and cigarette advertising materials.
