PMPC 1: Business Management

Introduction

The purpose of this course is to help mortgage professionals better understand some key aspects of business management. The course is comprised of five separate sections; How to Grow a team, Training and Development, Critical Thinking, Compliance Management, and Risk Management.

The section on how to grow a team includes information about the hiring process and interviews, the reference check process, performance reviews and performance management, and termination. In addition, this section provides an overview of, and how to promote, diversity and inclusion within the workplace. The Training and Development section provides an overview on orientation and training, specifically how to implement training programs, and examines various training methods, as well as coaching. The Critical Thinking section provides practical application to problem solving, including problem solving as a team. The final two sections – Compliance Management and Risk Management – help mortgage professionals understand their roles in term of following Canadian laws, and establishing basic risk management program.
