The UBC Real Estate Division is pleased to support the professional development of the Real Estate Institute of Canada’s (REIC) members pursuing the Certified Reserve Planner (CRP), Certified Residential Underwriter (CRU), and Certified in Real Estate Finance (CRF) designations.

Admission to the CRP, CRU, and CRF Designation Programs

If you are interested in pursuing the CRP, CRU, or CRF designations, please visit the REIC website and fill out the Application form. Registration is done through REIC and not through UBC.

Certified Reserve Planner (CRP)

The Certified Reserve Planner designation is for professionals involved in reserve fund planning, capital replacement forecasting, and long term financial modelling for buildings. CRPs often work with condominium boards, asset managers, engineering firms, and large property portfolios.

This is ideal for lending professionals, investment analysts, financial institutions, and anyone responsible for evaluating the viability and risk profile of real estate projects.

Certified In Real Estate Finance (CRF)

The Certified in Real Estate Finance designation is built for professionals who manage the financial performance of properties and portfolios. This program is well suited to asset managers, REIT analysts, property managers, and finance leaders in the real estate sector.

The UBC Real Estate Division may recognize transfer credits from courses that are essentially similar to other courses for which you have previously received post-secondary credit. As a general rule, courses completed more than 10 years ago are ineligible for transfer credits or exemptions. More information on course equivalencies can be found here.

The CRP, CRU, and CRF programs share many of the same UBC core courses – if you’ve successfully earned one designation, you may only need to take a few additional courses to fulfill the educational requirements for other REIC designations:

Some of the courses completed in the educational programming for REIC’s CRP, CRU, and CRF programs overlap with courses offered in the UBC Real Estate Division’s other educational programming, including the Diploma in Urban Land Economics (DULE), the Appraisal Institute of Canada’s (AIC) education programs, the Certificate Program in Real Property Assessment (CPRPA), the Bachelor of Business in Real Estate Degree (BBRE), and the Reserve Fund Planning Program (RFPP).
