Professional Development Courses

Professional Development courses range from one to four lessons; each lesson requires approximately three to five hours to complete. Registration for new students typically takes one business day. Existing students can login and get instant access to their online course materials immediately after they register.

Self-Study Courses 
Self-study courses range from one to four lessons, with each lesson taking approximately three to five hours to complete. A self-study course consists of written materials, which can be accessed online or as a printed workbook. In addition to the required readings, all courses include supplementary online resources. Many courses also include a recorded webinar. The student proceeds through the course content at their own pace and, when ready, completes a 20-question multiple choice online quiz. The quiz must be successfully completed within one year of enrolment in the course.

 Live Webinars
Professional development courses are periodically offered in a live webinar format. Webinars are generally available in November/December and at other times during the year subject to demand. Find out more about live webinars here.

Advanced Studies in Real Estate (ASRE)

UBC's Advanced Studies in Real Estate program offers real estate professionals an opportunity to return for further in-depth study in specialized real estate topics. Students complete further BUSI courses in property development, appraisal, assessment, management, or brokerage to gain further academic recognition for advancing their studies into these additional areas of expertise. The ASRE program is primarily aimed at graduates of UBC's Diploma in Urban Land Economics. Graduates of other equivalent real estate programs are also welcome. Visit the ASRE webpage for more information. Each BUSI course is eligible for 12 AIC CPD credits.

Reserve Fund Planning Program (RFPP)

The Reserve Fund Planning Program (RFPP) is a national program designed to provide real estate practitioners with the necessary expertise required to complete a diversity of reserve fund studies and depreciation reports. The program covers a variety of property types from different Canadian provinces, offering both depth and breadth in understanding how reserve fund studies are prepared for condominium/stratas and other properties.
