The UBC MBA Innovation & Entrepreneurship Career Track is designed for those keen to bring new products to market, whether within existing organizations or through their own startups. By combining rigorous academic coursework with immersive, real-world experiences, it equips you with essential tools and frameworks to validate market gaps for viable ventures.
You’ll take courses in financial and tech entrepreneurship, new product development, and sustainability & innovation, while also benefitting from access to seasoned entrepreneurs. You’ll meet angel investors and venture capitalists, who will help you to directly translate classroom theories into actionable business practices.
Our graduates have secured leading roles at SAP, Microsoft and lululemon, and some have gone on to found Vancouver’s leading consumer packaged goods companies and venture capital firms. If you have a unique perspective and a passion for creating and implementing innovative solutions, this track is for you.
Career track course highlights
Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship
This is an overview course for students who would like exposure to the field of entrepreneurship and may be considering becoming entrepreneurs in the near or more distant future in a startup and/or in a corporate setting.
Entrepreneurial Finance
Learn about the main challenges faced by entrepreneurs and investors, particularly venture capital practitioners. You will practice taking both the entrepreneur’s perspective, as well as switching to that of the venture capitalist.
Technology Entrepreneurship
This course provides an experienced-based exposure to the process of starting technology-based entrepreneurial ventures. It’s suitable for students interested in exploring the process of launching start-ups, and the multiple challenges associated with it.
