Course Overview
The Property Management as a Professional Career Course is delivered by the Real Estate Division in partnership with the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission. Students who complete the Phase 1 - Real Estate as a Professional Career course must also complete this course before being eligible to be registered as a salesperson under The Real Estate Act to engage in property management. This course provides an introduction to property management in Saskatchewan, and includes topics such as leases and tenancy agreements, tenant selection and mix considerations, operations management and the property management plan.
Delivered in a self-paced, online learning format, this course allows the flexibility required to meet the needs of busy adult learners yet providing just enough structure to ensure high quality learning. Regularly scheduled exams take place at various times throughout the year across the province and the course fee includes your first examination registration.
To meet Saskatchewan registration requirements, students must complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 course(s) in their chosen stream and become registered with a brokerage of their choice within two years of Phase 1 course registration.
To register in the Phase 2 – Property Management as a Professional Career course, students must have successfully completed the Phase 1 - Real Estate as a Professional Career course and examination.
Students are required to submit multiple-choice assignments in order to be eligible to register for the examination. These assignments ensure that students are reviewing the course materials and provide feedback on their level of understanding.
Phase 2 examinations are two hours in length and contain 60 multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark. The passing grade is 70%. A passing grade sets the minimum level of performance needed to practice in a profession, as determined by the regulatory body. The passing grade needed must be high enough to protect the public but not so high as to unreasonably limit the number of those who wish to practice. Students have three attempts to successfully pass the examination.
The UBC Sauder School of Business and the Real Estate Division are committed to taking meaningful steps to achieve carbon neutrality and reduce emissions. By using the eBook or PDF version of the course manual that are included with your registration, you will help us with our initiative and save approximately 350 printed pages. Together, our shift to digital resources will reduce over 530 metric tonnes of CO₂e annually and help fund a $20,000 scholarship for a student in the UBC Sauder MBA Climate Career Track to empower the next generation of climate-conscious leaders.
The Real Estate Division's goal is to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all students, including students with disabilities, in accordance with their distinct needs and in a manner consistent with academic principles. UBC Centre for Accessibility (CFA) works in partnership with the Real Estate Division and provides support on issues of accessibility for students with disabilities.
Examination accommodations enable you to demonstrate your knowledge of the course materials in cases where a disability may impact your ability to access exams under standard conditions. Students who may have an on-going disability or medical condition that requires accommodation must contact UBC Centre for Accessibility by telephone: +1 604.822.5844 or email: accessibility@ubc.ca
Examination accommodation(s) must be approved by the Centre for Accessibility, and an accommodation letter must be received by the Real Estate Division prior to examination registration. As well, registration must be received by the Real Estate Division no later than six weeks prior to the examination date.
Once students have received an accommodations letter and are ready to register for an exam, they may email the Real Estate Division at examrep@realestate.sauder.ubc.ca for further instruction.
Questions specific to registration as a real estate professional should be directed to the Commission’s Registration department at info@srec.ca. When you are ready to begin the process of applying for registration, please follow the directions on the Commission’s website for submitting the required documentation and application form.
