How to Satisfy the English Language Proficiency Requirement

The English Language Proficiency Requirement must be satisfied prior to exam registration, however, if registration is your intention we strongly recommend that you consider satisfying the ELPR prior to course registration. ELPR documents may be submitted before course registration or at least two months before exam registration. Original documents must be forwarded to us by mail. We are not able to accept emailed or faxed ELPR documents. Please note that ELPR documents will not be returned. Please also note that communicable disease prevention plans (i.e. COVID-19) may impact document processing times.

Please note: Due to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) national strike, students should anticipate delays when sending ELPR documentation via regular mail. Students are encouraged to have their ELPR documents sent via secure electronic transfer wherever possible.

As a temporary measure, students may arrange courier delivery of ELPR documentation directly to our office should they so wish.

Our office address is:

UBC Real Estate Division
Sauder School of Business
247 - 2053 Main Mall
Vancouver, BC,
Canada

V6T 1Z2

Please do NOT send any documents via courier to the PO Box, as they will not be accepted at the UBC postal sub-station.

To satisfy the English Language Proficiency Requirement, Saskatchewan real estate students must meet one of the following:

Please note: Exemptions based on work or industry experience will not be considered.

  • Have graduated from a recognized University degree program at an accredited university or technical institute at which English is the primary language of instruction.

  • Are currently licensed, qualified to be licensed, or who have been unlicensed for less than two (2) years in another Canadian jurisdiction and have satisfied that jurisdiction's English language requirements.

  • If none of the above apply, students are required to take the CELPIP-G Test. Students are responsible to register for this test and pay the applicable test fee. Please note that if you have taken a CELPIP-G test in the past, your score report can only be used for 2 years from the date of the test to meet the ELPR.
