Textbooks
Textbooks are included as a part of the course materials for most courses, with the exception of the following. In the courses below, the textbooks are not included with the course materials and must be purchased separately. These can be purchased using the Real Estate Division Online Bookstore.

BUSI 330: The Appraisal of Real Estate textbook is assigned reading in BUSI 330 and recommended for BUSI 331, 352,398,442,452,497,499.

Calculators
In most courses, students are required to use a financial calculator. The calculator of instruction for all programs is the Hewlett Packard (HP)10BII/10BII+. The cost of this calculator is $100 (plus all applicable taxes) and is not included in the tuition fees. These calculators are available in most shopping centres, or they may be purchased directly from the Real Estate Division.
International courier fee
This fee is required for the shipment of course materials to all students who reside outside of Canada or the Continental United States. This fee varies according to your country of residence, and the number of course packages you need to receive. Please contact the Real Estate Division prior to registration to inquire about the amount.
Computer software
Students enrolled in BUSI 344, BUSI 444 and BUSI 460 should note that the cost of the required software is not included in the tuition fee.
Documents/research expenses
Various courses may require students to pursue research and documents that incur associated fees; these are the responsibility of the student. In particular, BUSI 398/497/499 demand considerable independent research with fees potentially up to several hundred dollars, for documents such as: title searches for the subject property and comparables, corporate registry searches, costing reports, surveys and maps, and so on.
Income tax receipts
Tuition fees are deductible for income tax purposes as an educational expense. Receipts for tuition fees will be issued online by February 28, for courses that began in the previous year.
Transfers
Students may transfer to a later offering of the course, subject to the requirements specific for each course. Applications to transfer are made online using the "Transfer/Withdraw" option in "Course Tools" on your Course Resources webpage. There is a $75 fee.
Withdrawal
To receive a refund, an online request for withdrawal must be received by the Real Estate Division.
Refunds are provided less the following fees:
- Prior to early registration deadline: $50
- After early registration deadline but before materials have been sent out: $100
- After materials have been sent out: $200

Application fee
All new students enrolling in the Diploma Program in Urban Land Economics, Bachelor of Business in Real Estate, the AIC Distance Education Program, the Certificate Program in Real Property Assessment or the Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property are required to include a one-time application fee of $75. This fee is required by the University's Registrar for all students who are admitted to the University of British Columbia. This application must be accompanied by an official and original copy of your secondary school transcript, post-secondary school transcript, and/or equivalent. See Admissions for more details.
Enrollment in the Reserve Fund Planning Program requires a one-time admission fee of $35.
Challenge course fee
$150.00 (non-refundable)––to students who have been granted permission to challenge a course based on previous education. Course materials cost extra.
Transcript review fee
Transcript review is required for admission to the Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation program or to apply for transfer credit or course equivalencies in this or any other program. You must submit all applicable post-secondary transcripts. The review of these are subject to the following fees:
- $50.00 (non-refundable)––to review Canadian transcripts.
- $100.00 (non-refundable)––to review non-Canadian transcripts.
To have your transcripts reviewed for transfer credit or for entry into the Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation program all students must complete a Transcript Review Form.
Late assignment fee
$15.00 (non-refundable)––for any assignment or project received after the due date.
Rewrite and deferred examination fee
- $125 (non–refundable)––to defer an examination to a scheduled supplemental examination date or a regularly scheduled exam date.
- $125 (non–refundable)––to rewrite an examination on a scheduled supplemental examination date or a regularly scheduled exam date.
