Scholarships, awards and bursaries
A wide range of scholarships, awards, and bursaries are available to BCom students. You may be eligible based on your academic achievement and in many cases, a combination of financial need and achievement in other areas such as leadership and community service.
The Presidential Scholars Award program grants a one-time award of approximately $5,000 and renewable awards of up to $80,000 payable over four years to selected Canadians and permanent residents of Canada entering Year 1 at UBC. To be considered for a Presidential Scholars Award, you must submit your application to UBC by December 1. The information you provide in your academic transcripts and Personal Profile will be used to assess your eligibility.
Additionally, the following entrance awards recognize and reward the achievements of incoming UBC Sauder School of Business students. Unless otherwise listed, you must submit your application to UBC by December 1 to be considered for these awards.
Bachelor of Commerce International Entrance Scholarship
Scholarships valued at up to $20,000 each are available to international students entering the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce program at the Sauder School of Business. The awards are based primarily on the students' scholarly achievement. Subject to continued scholarship standing, the scholarships will be renewed for a further three years of study or until the first undergraduate degree is obtained (whichever is the shorter period).
Clio Social Impact Award in Commerce for IBPOC Students
Awards totalling $25,000 have been made available annually through a gift from Clio, for outstanding first-year Bachelor of Commerce students who are First Nations, Inuit or Métis of Canada, and/or who identify as Black and/or as a Person of Colour. Students must demonstrate leadership in their community and involvement in social purpose, impact, and/or access to justice community efforts. Financial need may be considered. Clio is a legal technology company headquartered in Burnaby, BC. The company is powering the future of legal services for lawyers and their clients through a suite of cloud-based solutions, including legal practice management, client intake and CRM, online payments, and client-attorney communication and collaboration software.
Sheldon Trainor-De Girolamo Scholarship in Commerce
Two scholarships of approximately $4,800 each have been endowed by Sheldon Trainor-De Girolamo for undergraduate students entering the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce program. Preference is given to students who graduated from a BC secondary school located outside the Greater Vancouver Regional District or the Capital Region District.
HSBC Bank Canada Sauder School of Business Entrance Award
HSBC Bank Canada offers an award of approximately $2,000 that has been endowed through donations by employees who are Sauder Alumni. The award is available for an undergraduate student entering first year of the Bachelor of Commerce Program. The award is based on a combination of financial need and community service.
Real Estate Council of British Columbia Scholarship
A scholarship of approximately $9,800 has been endowed for an undergraduate student entering the Bachelor of Commerce Program at the Sauder School of Business. The award honours the Real Estate Council of British Columbia's 50th Anniversary and recognizes the long-standing partnership in education between the Council and the Sauder School. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an interest in or connection to the real estate industry.
