The UBC Professional MBA (PMBA) offers a dynamic, flexible learning experience built to fit around your career. Choose the in-person stream (classes every second or third weekend) or the online stream (live classes two evenings a week), or move between them as your circumstances change, subject to availability. All students follow the same structured 24-month journey designed to enhance strategic thinking, leadership skills, and global business acumen, whichever path you take to get there.
The UBC PMBA experience
Your path to success
The UBC Professional MBA (PMBA) offers a structured yet flexible learning experience through eight-week course modules. Students can choose between the in-person stream, with face-to-face classes every two to three weekends at UBC Vancouver, or the online stream, featuring live online classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for greater geographic flexibility. Regardless of how students choose to learn, all follow the same curriculum, are taught by the same faculty, and come together for three in-person, 8-day professional residencies, with all exams administered online for accessibility.
Foundation courses
Courses covered include accounting; introductory finance; foundations of accounting and business economics; marketing; operations; application of statistics in management; building high performance teams; fundamentals of analytics and tech.
Advanced courses
Specialized courses covered include entrepreneurship; financial statement analysis; strategy in organizations; process fundamentals; marketing research; corporate finance; investment theory and asset pricing; supply chain strategy and analytics.
Professional residencies
Taught by a cross-discipline team, these in-person residencies will span multiple topics in business. The first will focus on leadership and competitive strategy. The second: business development and negotiations. The third: ethics, sustainability and managing change.
Optional Global Network Week
Online courses offered by institutions in the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM) that can be taken and counted as credit towards the UBC PMBA.
