UBC Sauder is a proud member of the Forté MBA Fellowship program, a prestigious scholarship for outstanding women MBA applicants who demonstrate leadership, a commitment to gender equity and alignment with UBC Sauder’s and Forté Foundation’s mission to advance inclusion and women in business. Awards are competitive and merit based, with recipients selected by UBC Sauder’s Admissions Committee in alignment with Forté’s standards.

Two $35,000 entrance awards have been made available annually in memory of Ruth P. Glenen through a gift from 11:11 Charitable Foundation for outstanding domestic students who are women entering the Master of Business Administration program. Ruth (B.A., M.B.A.) worked as an executive assistant at Nesbitt Thomson while attending night classes to obtain her B.A. in 1980 and M.B.A. in 1985 from Concordia University. She forged an impressive career in venture capital, mentored many young women and advocated for women’s education. The foundation established this award to honour Ruth’s legacy, support women in business, and foster a mutually supportive and self-sustaining network of recipients and future collaborators. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Robert H. Lee Graduate School. (First award available for the 2025/2026 winter session).

Fellowships totalling $16,300 have been made available through an endowment established by an estate gift from John Piket (1923-2021), in memory of his wife, Ankie Piket (1925-1989), for outstanding Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Business Administration students who have demonstrated an interest in management science. Mr. Piket was born in Berlin, Germany. He was a survivor of the Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Theresienstadt concentration camps. His mother and younger brother perished in Auschwitz, and his father, who was working in South America during the 1940s, died before Mr. Piket was able to reunite with him. After World War II, Mr. Piket returned to Berlin, before living in France, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In France, he became a confidant of Jean Paul Sartre; in Switzerland, he received an engineering degree from L'École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne; and in the Netherlands he met his wife, Ankie. They immigrated to Canada in 1952, and moved to West Vancouver, British Columbia in the 1970s, where they spent the rest of their lives. The fellowships are made on the recommendation of the Robert H. Lee Graduate School, and in the case of a graduate student, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Global Achievement Scholarships are offered to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and noteworthy personal and/or professional achievements. These awards recognize outstanding contribution to the global dynamic environment and those who drive positive organizational change on an international scale. These scholarships aim to recognize and support global talents and the potential of students from diverse backgrounds.

• Value:
  $20,000 - $60,000 for international applicants
  $20,000 - Full tuition for permanent resident and Canadian applicants

This prestigious, merit-based award is open to Canadian citizens, permanent resident and international applicants who embody a strong alignment with UBC Sauder values of rigour, respect and responsibility. Two entrance awards of $10,000 each have been made available annually through a gift from Ray Kruck and Jennifer Vancini to support outstanding applicants entering the Master of Business Administration program who wish to pursue a career in sustainability and climate action related work. Applicants must demonstrate their commitment to effectively addressing the climate crisis through past work experience, responsible leadership and community involvement, and future career ambitions.

Ray Kruck (MBA 1992) and Jennifer Vancini (MBA 1993) are entrepreneurs who have stayed closely connected with UBC since their graduation, giving their time to the UBC Sauder School of Business programs like the Creative Destructive Lab - Vancouver, all while living in San Francisco. Ray is the CE0 and Founder of Tugboat Logic, and Jennifer is a General Partner at Mighty Capital. Ray and Jennifer established this award to support future MBA students as they pursue their education and help UBC Sauder School of Business attract a diverse group of leaders, who will make a positive impact in the world. The awards are made on the recommendation of the UBC Sauder School of Business’s Admissions Committee.
