Experiential learning
UBC MBAN students have the flexibility to either work with a company in an analytics focused role, consult on an industry project focused on a real world problem a company is experiencing, or create a research project aligned with your career goals. You will apply lessons from the classroom to a real-world setting, create lasting connections with other analytics leaders and broaden your knowledge of the profession.

Using Text-Mining Approaches to Build Social Media Analytics
As part of one recent project, UBC MBAN students explored how to apply structure to large unstructured datasets found on social media. By conducting in-depth analyses, they distilled this valuable data into invaluable insights.
Forecasting Energy for the Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
While pursuing a UBC MBAN, students collaborate with prominent companies across a number of sectors. Using Vancouver International Airport as a case study, students forecasted monthly energy use, a necessity for the airport’s budget planning and contract negotiations.
Analytics Case Competition
During this competition weaved into the UBC MBAN program, students have an opportunity to work with top-tier companies such as SAS and Google, gaining practical experience and solid understanding how analytics affects business decisions.
MBAN Student Society
Not only does the UBC MBAN Student Society represent MBAN students in academic and administrative matters, it also builds community, facilitates a positive cohort experience and provides students with the opportunity to hone their leadership skills by organizing networking and social events.
