Overview

The Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) Business Management Program is a fully online entrepreneurship certificate program designed exclusively for MNBC citizens. Delivered in partnership with the UBC Sauder Spitz Centre for Indigenous Business Education and MNBC, this program blends foundational business education with Métis cultural perspectives to help you launch or strengthen your business. Whether you have a band-new idea or want to grow an existing venture, this program will equip you with the tools, skills and confidence to take your next steps as an entrepreneur. 

Who should apply?

Aspiring Métis MNBC entrepreneurs and learners who demonstrate drive, ambition, and a keen interest in starting a new business or enhancing an existing one. 

Program at a glance

This online certificate program integrates leading edge knowledge, practical entrepreneurial training, and Métis cultural contexts for a holistic learning experience. Participants learn key business topics taught by top-tier UBC Sauder faculty, receive one-on-one support, and create a business capstone project applicable to their business idea. Capstone presentations will combine all learned topics and be presented on the final day of class. A Métis Elder in Residence will also offer support, perspectives and cultural teachings.

Throughout the program, participants will work on a capstone business plan, which includes:

  • A PowerPoint presentation outlining their business idea or business expansion
  • A cash flow projection and income statement for their business
  • A live pitch to a panel of business professionals on the final day of class

* Participants are expected to attend all online classes and present their final capstone presentation on March 6, 2025 (full day, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm) in order to graduate. Students will be required to attend capstone rehearsals on one of the following dates: March 3, 4, or 5.
