Times Higher Education (THE), a worldwide authority on rankings in the higher education space, has just released their World University Rankings by Subject for 2025, and UBC has ranked 29th in the world in the Business and Economics category.
This ranking represents UBC’s highest global ranking position since 2021. The 2025 ranking includes 990 institutions from 85 countries and territories, and is based on 18 rigorous performance indicators, carefully tailored to reflect the distinctive qualities within the business and economics subject area. The Business and Economics table assesses performance across three core disciplines: Business and Management, Accounting and Finance, and Economics and Econometrics.
The Business and Economics subject table uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. The detailed 2025 Subject Rankings methodology, trusted worldwide by students, teachers, academics, governments and industry experts, is based on: 157 million citations, 18 million research publications, and survey responses from more than 93,000 scholars globally.
The Times Higher Education ranking further reinforces the strength of UBC’s individual programs on a global scale. UBC also recently secured the top spot in Maclean's 2025 ranking of the best business programs in Canada, a position it has held for eight consecutive years, and business magazine Corporate Knights recently ranked the UBC Sauder School of Business’ MBA program 13th best in the world amongst all sustainability-focused MBA programs, and fourth best in the world amongst large schools (schools which have an average of at least 80 MBA graduates over the past two years).
