PPS is mandatory professional practice training and is separate from discretionary professional development activities. AIC Members must complete the PPS and earn discretionary professional development credits in accordance with the AIC’s CPD policy.
The Professional Practice Seminar 2026-2027 is presented in two modules. Module 1 launches in January 2026 and must be completed by April 15, 2026. Module 2 will launch in January 2027 and must be completed by March 31, 2027.
The course is designed and presented by designated AIC members and is delivered through UBC’s self-paced learning platform. Members may begin the course at any time and proceed at their own pace, providing they complete the course by the deadline.
Goal: To align with the effective date of the 2026 Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (CUSPAP), this module ensures Members understand updates to CUSPAP and AIC policies.

MODULE 2 – INSURANCE AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE (Launching January 2027)
Goal: Strengthen knowledge of professional liability insurance and reinforce best practices.

Essential insights into AIC Professional Liability Insurance Program
Best practices for reducing risk and ensuring compliance
Practical strategies to support consistent, high-quality appraisal work
Assessments
To successfully finish the course, participants will need to complete a quiz consisting of 10 multiple choice questions at the end of the course, achieving a passing grade of 70% or higher. If a passing grade is not achieved, the participant must rewrite the quiz. A $25 fee applies per rewrite attempt.
Once participants have successfully completed the module and the quiz, proof of completion is automatically uploaded to the Appraisal Institute of Canada’s database provided you entered your AIC member number during registration.

AIC members who have attended a classroom presentation of the PPS course must successfully complete the quiz in order to meet AIC’s requirement to complete PPS. The quiz must be completed on UBC's website by April 15, 2026. Classroom attendees are sent a link to register for the Professional Practice Supplement course – please note there is no additional cost for registration.
